How to Research
a WW1 Anzac Digger Soldier

SURNAME & SERVICE NUMBER is the best way to quickly identify an Australian Soldier you wish to research from the Great War. Below are four major links to help you and examples given of my Grandfather's WW1 Military service and how they are written in code. Its important that you choose correctly at this stage.

CURRY & MARCHMENT website has been online since 4th July 2006. It has bee a quest to find out as much as possible on my families that fought in the Great War at the Western Front 1916-1918.

Walking in the Footsteps of my Grandfathersis a technique using their Service Records related Unit War Diaries Trench Map coordinates and plotting those positions on today Battlefields. Google Earth and related Western FrontTrench Maps overlapping each other is great method of finding positions. The 13th Field Artillery Brigade & 14th Machine Gun Company Units from the 5th Division are recorded Photographed and Filmed in 2008.
